Existing libraries remain authoritative#
Reel reads the movie, television, and home-video libraries available to the active Plex identity. The left navigation is organized around those libraries and their collections. It does not require moving media into a Reel-specific movie or TV directory.
Library identification, titles, years, posters, and access permissions originate in Plex. Correct mismatches at the server. Reel's browsing presentation cannot repair an incorrectly identified series or grant a profile access to a restricted library.
Grids and navigation#
The standard poster grid uses seven columns and keeps titles and years visible. Navigation shortcuts provide access to search, alphabetical jumping, sorting, filtering, and resetting the browsing selection. The interface also preserves browsing position when returning from an action or another screen.
This structure makes the title list and navigation state explicit. A long press opens poster actions without first replacing the library screen with a title page. Actions operate on the selected Plex item; watched-state or playlist changes still go back to PMS.
Show the seven-column grid, persistent titles and years, and a rail organized around the server's libraries.
Presentation policy#
Owners can manage library and collection navigation through shared settings. Grouping libraries into a combined view changes presentation; it does not merge their PMS sections or alter their filesystem locations.
Likewise, hiding a navigation entry is not an authorization boundary. The profile's actual access is still determined by Plex. Configure Plex restrictions if the requirement is to make media inaccessible rather than to simplify the menu.
Metadata and scale#
A library browser depends on both the server's response and the Roku's ability to process and display it. Very large combined views can impose more work on older Roku hardware. A slow browse operation is therefore worth separating from a playback transcoder issue: they exercise different parts of the system.
For TV libraries, the Atlas presents the episode hierarchy as a continuous guide. For curated groupings, collections preserve the owner's Plex membership and descriptive metadata.
