A continuous episode guide#

The Atlas presents every season of a series in one continuous episode guide, with a season map for orientation. It exposes the series' episode hierarchy without requiring a separate page transition for each season.

The input remains Plex's show, season, and episode metadata. Season membership, numbering, episode titles, artwork, and completion state are not independently curated inside Reel.

The season map supplies context while the episode list remains continuous.

Entry position#

The managed setting Episode guide starts at chooses between the next unfinished episode and the beginning of the series. Opening a specifically selected episode or season takes priority over the general landing preference.

This matters when a viewer arrives from a search result or a particular episode elsewhere in the application. The explicit target should remain the target rather than being replaced by a generic next-unwatched selection.

Watch-state dependency#

Completion and resume information depend on Plex's records for the active profile. If the guide opens at an unexpected episode, inspect the watch state in Plex for that profile and verify the landing setting before changing series metadata.

Episode, season, and show watch-state actions can change the state used by subsequent guide entries. They are operations against the library's viewing records, not a separate Atlas-only checklist.

Owner preparation#

No additional library or server plugin is required for the Atlas. Accurate series matching, correct season and episode organization, and appropriate profile access are the prerequisites. Missing episodes or unusual season numbering should be investigated in the server's metadata first.

The guide's shared landing behavior follows the same default and permission rules as other managed settings.
